Abstract
A UK-based SME that assists companies with their drug development programmes is seeking new assays and analytical techniques that can be developed for the pharmaceutical industry. The SME will help companies develop assays from the areas of cell science, molecular biology and biochemistry for the pharmaceutical market with the partnership envisaged as taking the form of a joint venture agreement.
Description
Various factors such as the increasingly aged population, demand for better healthcare and expiring patent portfolios is putting ever increasing pressure on the pharmaceutical industry to develop more and better therapeutic agents. This creates a correspondingly increasing demand for drug discovery. The drug discovery process includes initial target validation, hit identification, lead optimisation and candidate drug selection each of which requires the analysis of molecular interactions as well as analysis of the data generated during these studies. In order to increase the number of candidate therapeutics in development and reduce development costs better analysis techniques and technologies are required.
A UK-based SME has a network of over 70 consultants, each with an average of 20 years' experience in the drug discovery field, and uses this network to help companies with potential new therapeutic agents take their new compounds through the drug development process. This SME is looking for new assays and analytical techniques and technologies in the areas of cell science, molecular biology and biochemistry that have potential to be applied to the drug discovery process that it can offer as part of its portfolio of services. These assays and techniques could have the potential for examining and analysis of molecular interactions, molecule – cell interactions or be in the area of bioinformatics for analysing data generated by drug development studies.
The SME will provide its expertise, guidance and technical support to help partners to validate the technology in a pharmaceutical industry discovery setting and help them explore applications and markets. It is envisaged that the partnership will take the form of a joint venture agreement.

Organisation Comments
New assays and analytical techniques and technologies in the areas of cell science, molecular biology and biochemistry that have potential to be applied to the drug discovery process. These assays should have the potential in particular for examining and analysing molecule-molecule or cell-molecule interactions. These analytical techniques should be at or past the laboratory proof-of-concept stage. These assays and analytical techniques must be new and not already available on the market.

Comments:
The UK-based SME is looking to partner with other companies, universities and research institutions that have developed new analysis assay, techniques and technologies in the areas of cell science, molecular biology and biochemistry that have the potential to be applied to the drug discovery process. They are also interested in new data analysis techniques and technologies in the bioinformatics space. The SME will provide its expertise, guidance and technical support to help partners to validate the technology in a pharmaceutical industry discovery setting and help them explore applications and markets.
It is envisaged that the partnership will take the form of a joint venture agreement.
